Creating an ILLiad Account

Start by selecting the  “Library Services”  tab on the library website

Look for and select “Intra-District Loan (IDL)/Interlibrary Loan (ILL)” from the list of services.

You will need to scroll down until you see this option.

Proceed towards the “ILLiad” hyperlink.

Make note of the guidelines for borrowing, as it can impact the eligibility of requests.

General IDL/ILL Guidelines

  • Library users have the responsibility of keeping themselves informed of the status of their requests.
  • Any requests for renewal of ILL material should be made prior to date due. This must be done in person. The lending library may or may not grant the request.
  • If the item is lost, the library user is responsible for the replacement cost of the book.
  • IDL/ILL is not offered for Community Borrowers. ILL requests for these library users should be made through their local public library.

From there you will either be asked to login with your MEID

Or, if you are already logged in, directed to the “Change Personal Information” page

Your information should autofill. If there are any blank spots with the red * be sure to fill them.

Also, make sure to choose a “Pickup Location”.

The chosen location must be a college where you are currently a student, staff or faculty member.

Once the form is complete, select “Submit Information” and you will be taken to the account home.

Filling Out an ILL Request Form

Filling Out an ILL Request Form

First, check if the book or article wanted is available either in our library catalog or ONE Search.

If you need assistance, please use our Ask A Librarian service, call the library (623)-935-8191), or speak to a Librarian in person at the front desk.

If the book or article is not available through Maricopa Community Colleges, the next step would be to check in WorldCat and request the item through ILL.

On the WorldCat website use the search bar- located in the center of the page- and type in the title of the item you are looking for.

Select search, if the book or article is in the system, then a list of results should pop up.

You can use the filters on the left-hand side to choose the correct format, author, and even publication year if you are looking for a specific edition.

Once the correct title, edition, and author has been found, click on the title.

The next page features more information as well as a list of libraries that have the book/article.

Click on the “Show More Information” down arrow, to access the item’s ISBN, and OCLC numbers.

Though tempting, DO NOT click the blue “Borrow” button, as this will take you to the site of the closest library.

Instead, in a separate window, open the ILL request form and log in. The form can also be found under Library Services-> Inter-Library Loan (IDL)/Interlibrary Loan (ILL)  towards the middle of the page.

In the “Main Menu” section of your ILLiad account, locate “New Request”- which can be found on the left-hand side- and click on the option best suited for your needs*.

*Select “Photocopy” if requesting an article.

Fill out the form using the information from Worldcat; this includes all fields that have a red asterisk next to them, *.

The more information you add the better.

Remember if a certain edition is needed it must be marked down in the correct field

Once the form is all filled out, click “Submit Request”

You can go back to your ILL dashboard at any time to see the status of your request. All Outstanding Requests will be displayed in the center of the screen of the “Main Menu.”

***Please keep in mind your request may be denied as we only use free

lenders. You will know whether a request cannot be filled within 3-5 days.***
